> Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano (Chile)
> Academy of Christian Humanism University
The University’s origins date back to 1975 when Cardinal Raul Silva Henriquez founded the Academy of Christian Humanism. The Academy became an important centre for intellectuals and scholars who were able to work within a context of freedom and pluralism, especially in the field of social sciences.
Later, in view of the profound changes that occurred at both, national and international levels, the Academy became a University in 1988. It was an enormous challenge, but we were convinced of the need to offer our country, specially our youth, a university institution that strives for humanist values emanating from the different currents of social thought.
The University’s Board of Directors is composed of the different research and academic centres that originally formed the Academy. These are: GIA (Agrarian Research Group); FASIC (Christian Churches Social Aid Foundation); WUS (World University Service); GEA (Agrarian Studies Group); PIIE (Interdisciplinary Program of Educational Research); PET (Labour Economy Program); CERC (Contemporary Reality Study Centre) and, CORPODIUM.
The “Academia” - as the University is known –is an institution of higher education determined to face challenges of the XXI century, always faithful to our tradition of critical thought. www.academia.cl
