I definitely recommend studying in Chile
I studied “Politics and Human Rights” at Ilwen Intercultural Studies 2007 and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had! I learnt a lot, got to visit amazing places and meet people I would never have met if it was not for this school.
Studying politics and human rights in Chile not only prepared me and gave me a solid base for further university studies in that field but also made me realize that this is the field I want to continue study back home.
As far as the school goes I could not have had a better experience; the lecturers were very good but the coordinators were the ones who made the school great! They are very warm, welcoming and helpful; whatever problem you have they will try to help you solve it!
I definitely recommend studying at Ilwen to anyone interested! If you have any further questions about my experience in Chile please do contact me.

Learn, contribute and travel!
When I studied in Chile I was able to experience both, the country’s cultural as wel as environmental aspects.
The reason being that the Politics an Human Rights course contains such a broad base of subjects, for classes are held in both, political & human rights subjects, combined with meetings with organisations and the possibibility to meet and work with Chilean people in their everyday environment.
For me everything went well with both school and social life. I rented an apartment in a Spanish speaking home and felt that warm and kind base you might need as a young student far from home. It became even better when I realised that the relatively small class soon became a family itself.
Finally I would like to recommend you all to take the opportunity to travel around the country. Chile, with it's rich nature and extreme differences, has a lot to offer and will bring you unforgettable memories.

My experience in Chile
This was the best thing I done in my life! The course opens up your eyes for new perspectives in life and gives you so much. The teachers are amazing, but the best part are the field trips, that make you see how things really work. The schedule allows you to go for trips to other parts of Chile as well.
Chile itself is a wonderful country with landscape you can't imagine, with a friendly and open and kind people.
You won't regret going there!!!"

I am very glad I took the course
When I first came to Chile, I did it on vacation to visit some friends. I liked it a lot and wanted to stay for a while. Because of that I started to look for universities and courses and found The Human Rights and Politics course, through a friend who recomended it to me. I immediately thought that this was something for me. After having been travelling around South-America, as I had, I was very interesting in the area, Latinamerican politics and the history of democratization. And starting the course was great! I really felt it was something I wanted to, and was interested in. The mix between classes and practical experiences, fields trips and reasearch project was a really good combination.
I am very glad I took the course, and I learned a lot about human rights and politics in Chile and South America. Through my research project I learnt to work more independently and, and got in contact with a lot of Chilean people. Thanks to the contacts I got and the knowledge about human rights I obtained during the course, I approached Amnesty International Chile, where I started as a volunteer and later did a internship for 6 months.
I am still in Chile, studying and participating in Amnesty Chile, right know as a coordinator for the women's rights- team. Enjoying a lot and loving to work with something I really care for.
I can really recomend you to come here a few months, to study, learn about human rights and the political history of Chile. A country, where even after 35 years is still marked with the military coup in 1973...
Besides that, Chilean people are lovely, the country is amazing, the food delicious and the adventures are thousands...

I have only great memories
I have only great memories from my time in Chile and feel that I am still growing from all that I learnt by the two courses i did. I think you are doing a great job and I remember you took so good care of us!
Every once in a while I meet other students from the Politics course, which is so much fun!
I hope to come back within 1-2 years to Chile and do my Internship at some kind of organization. My dream is to be able to stay with Human Rights Watch somewhere in Latin America.....but who knows.. I guess it is very hard to get a internship there as a postgraduate.
I'll be more than happy to answer questions from students that might want to go to Santiago.

If you wish to get to know the real Chile, this course is absolutely to recommend
The course Politics and Human Rights Diploma is without a doubt the most rewarding course I have taken within the field of politics and human rights. It provides the students with a theoretical base of political concepts and raises many human rights-issues relevant to the Latin-American region in general, and to Chile in particular.
The combination of theory and practice gives the studies even more purpose and the final essay in the form of a minor field-study gave me the opportunity to use my theoretical knowledge obtained during the course. While searching for information and making interviews for the essay I got in contact with a lot of very interesting people I otherwise would never have met. The teachers are highly motivated and experienced and they support the students in their essay-writing as well as the search for information. The course includes many field-trips and visits to culturally and politically important places, with guided tours and meetings with people directly affected by the different historical events in Chile.
If you wish to get to know the real Chile, a country that truly is culturally and politically diverse and multi-facetted, this course is absolutely to recommend.
